Sea Trials

Alpha Release

Welcome to Îles des Saintes, Guadeloupe in the year of 1780.

What Is Sea Trials?

Sea Trials is where Ahoy begins. A multiplayer sailing experience, deliberately spare. There is no combat. There is no economy. There is no progression. You learn to sail, and you sail.

Targeted for

July 2026

Game Features

The World

The Iles des Saintes are a small archipelago of dependency islands belonging to Guadeloupe, recreated from real charts. A few square miles of channel, headland and sheltered bay. The tutorial walks you, in story, from Terre-de-Bas to Terre-de-Haut. From there, the islands are yours to explore at the speed a wooden boat allows.

First Ship

You begin aboard the Bumblebee. A small, forgiving sloop with just enough rig to get into trouble and just enough character to be worth learning. She is built from real plans at one to one scale, with a full interior, and she will be your home throughout the tutorial and your sandbox once it ends.

The Sailing

The boat answers slowly to the helm. You read the wind from the flags and from the heel of the deck. You take stations across the ship, hauling sheets, climbing to the tops, calling tacks to the crew, watching the chart in the captain's cabin. There is no minimap. There is no GPS. The compass is a real compass on a real binnacle, and you use it the way it has always been used.

Solo or Together

Sea Trials supports between one to four ships sailing at once. Learn solo, or sail together. Sea Trials is our opportunity to hone the sailing experience with you, the community, as we work towards our future project milestones.

Regatta

The Regatta racing mode arrives in an update shortly after the initial Sea Trials release, currently targeted for December 2026. Lay out a course of waypoints, set a start and finish, and race against friends or against the clock. Default routes will be available from launch for those who want a benchmark.
