The Open World

Our Long-term Vision

Journey to the West Indies, 1780. A time of empire & revolution. Navigate the dangers & delights of life in the tropical waters of the 18th century Caribbean.

Travel Back In Time

The Caribbean of the 1780s, recreated at one to one scale. Real ports, real waters, real distances. A wooden boat in real wind takes as long to cross as a wooden boat should. The world rewards those who plan, and punishes those who don't.

Living World

Your NPC crew live and die by your actions. Towns shift, and markets shift with them. A war breaking out at one end of the sea changes prices at the other. NPCs you grow attached to can be lost permanently. The West Indies pause for no one.

Life At Sea

You make your own character before you set foot on deck. The character you make at the start of Sea Trials is the same character who fights in Arena, and walks the ports of the Open World.

Your Path

You begin as a free individual, not as the captain of a great ship. Sail with a letter of marque. Run cargo, legal or otherwise. Hunt prizes. Build a reputation port by port. The role you grow into is the role you choose.

Land and Sea

The Open World is where Ahoy steps fully onto land. Towns to walk, markets to trade in, taverns to find work in, forts to garrison or assault. Land combat, duelling, sieges and trade all sit alongside the sailing, and the line between sailor and citizen is yours to draw.

Release Date

To Be Decided

We are not there yet. Sea Trials is the foundation. Arena is the proving ground for combat. The Open World comes after both, and it could take years to build properly. We will not put a date on it until we are certain we can keep it.

You can support our vision of the Open World by purchasing Ahoy during our Sea Trials and Arena stages.
